As a Senior Climate Scientist, you will ensure our climate risk models, methodologies, and metrics are robust and meet the overall objectives of our Product Roadmap and our clients’ needs.
You will focus on utilising mathematical and computational techniques to estimate climate-related risks and financial models to quantify building and productivity losses from climate change. You will be accountable for the end-to-end development, maintenance and documentation of our hazard models. You will own models’ methodologies and archetypes, managing prioritisation of new hazards and hazard improvement, ensuring our data and models are kept up-to-date and fit-for-purpose.

Model management:
- Managing the ongoing documentation of models for internal and client stakeholders
- Managing and maintaining the inventory of models that track their development lifecycle
- Familiarity with standards (e.g., NGFS, IFRS, ESRS, etc.) and addressing how changes will impact our clients and projects
Model governance and compliance:
- Working within and contributing to a regulatory-ready model governance standard
- Applying model governance policies, guidelines, and standards of practice to our scientific and engineering models underlying our systems
- Applying model governance frameworks to ensure accurate and reliable results
- Providing recommendations for model validation, model evaluation, change management and model usage and tooling to cover key information required for compliance with the model governance policies
- Ensuring compliance of the model governance policies with broader organisational governance standards
- Identifying, measuring, and mitigating risk. This includes things such as data quality, model quality, and potential impact on clients.
Org and business:
- Build and nurture relationships with peer researchers and organisations
- Delivering scientific insights, visuals, and data analyses to different stakeholders.
- Where appropriate, present scientific insights to external clients & stakeholders
- Contributing to growing science through the promotion of TCRG methodologies
Senior Scientists are also called upon to support the business and the teams with their own extended capabilities, including but not limited to:
- Partnerships (supporting the development of strategic plans and the commercial and cultural aspects of the business),
- Scientific insights communication (presenting scientific data and analytics insights),
- Technical advantage (translate technical features into customer value),
- Innovation (codifying and solving hard customer problems), and
- Leadership (mentoring and up-skilling data, science and product team members).
